THE HOFNER WORKSHOPS -  THE WOOD STORE

Good stocks of properly seasoned timber is essential for making high quality guitars. Hofner is very lucky in this respect, having amassed a large stock of tone woods over the company's many years of instrument production. Some of the veneers in stock are from the 1950's! All timber used on Hofner's German built instruments is air dried for up to 25 years in the case of the master violins, before being moved into the workshop for a further six month period so that it can acclimatise properly. Only then is the timber cut and formed in the instrument production process.
