A few comments on these instruments.
Bass guitar versions of the Committee, President, Senator, and Verithin were available from 1963 to 1971. The bass guitars were simply the archtop and semi-acoustic bodies fitted out with longer bass necks.
Total production of the basses extended to around four thousand instruments. Of these, the most famous being the 1959 Senator bass, otherwise known as the Sutcliffe bass as favoured by the Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe. This has now become a much sought-after bass.
Subtle differences exist between the basses and their corresponding guitars with regard to fingerboard fret markers.
Committee Bass
The flower and leaf inlays commence at the third fret and not the first as on the guitars
President Bass
The triple dot inlays are nine in number as opposed to eight on the guitars.
Senator Bass
The bass has single dot inlays with double dots at the twelfth fret as opposed to triple dot inlays on the guitars
Verithin Bass
These basses can be found with either single dot inlays or the tortoiseshell and white bar type found on the guitars
Cavern and Beatle Basses
There is sufficient information on these elsewhere, so I have omitted to include any comments.
