This guitar,
complete with original Selmer case, has obviously suffered a bridge pickup
replacement at some time. The replacement pickup has in turn disappeared,
leaving some rather nasty scars.
However, the most interesting feature of the guitar is that it
is fitted with a Hofner 470 neck and headstock. My theory is that
the guitar's original neck was damaged at some stage after production of the
Golden Hofner had been terminated. The correct replacement necks with the large
frondose headstocks would not then have been available, but the nearest
equivalent to the Golden, the Hofner 470, was still in production (into the
1990's). Hence, maybe the factory could only supply a 470 neck as a replacement?
Note the 11-piece Hofner 470 neck.
