1950's Hofner Model 608 32-string Zither

As well as guitars and bass guitars, Hofner have made many other stringed instruments over the years, not the least being their orchestral instrument range of violins, doulble basses and cellos. Probably the instruments most related to the guitar however are the mandolines, banjos, ukuleles, lutes, and even zithers that have all been in the Hofner catalogue in the past.

Hofner have recently re-introduced banjos and mandolines back into their German-made product line, and this has prompted be to set up this further gallery page in order to feature examples of all those plucked instruments that are an alternative to the guitar.
