GRAMPIAN AMPLIFIERS

Late-1950s GRAMPIAN VIBROMAJOR 20 Watt COMBO AMPLIFIER

COURTESY OF ANDY BRIGGS, UK:

Note: This amp's cabinet has recently been re-covered, although the grill cloth is still original.

Not the original speaker, but a Grampian none the less.

A multi-purpose amplifier with 3 inputs, two with individual volume controls and one feeding direct into the pre-amp. All three inputs share a bass and treble pot. Tremolo operates on one channel with Frequency and Depth controls. Socket for external footswitch to control vibrato, plus extension speaker socket. Valve line-up is ECC81, ECC83, EF86, EZ81 rectifier and 2 x EL34. Speaker is a 12" Grampian Reproducers branded alnico-magnet model, presumably heavy-duty to cope with the 25 watt peak output claimed by Grampian (and a very probable claim bearing in mind the two EL34 output valves!).
